SolarCraft Installs Solar Power at EnviroCare International

NorthBay Environmental Firm Eliminates their Power Bill with Solar

Novato and Sonoma based SolarCraft recently completed the installation of a 66.4 kW solar panel installation at EnviroCare International in American Canyon, CA.  The solar panel system will provide 100% of their power needs, eliminating their power bill and saving the company tens of thousands of dollars every year for decades to come.

Designed and installed by SolarCraft, the solar photovoltaic system is roof mounted on the main facility and consists of 203 SunPower high efficiency 327-watt solar panels, providing 102,480 kWh of sustainable solar power every year.

Over the life of the system 4 million tons of carbon dioxide will be eliminated from EnviroCare’s carbon footprint, which is the equivalent of removing 6.5 million miles of driving over the next 25 years.  That’s also comparable to the air pollution removed by more than 34 acres of trees.

SolarCraft’s turnkey solar energy solution also included performance monitoring.  This offers real-time visibility into the number of kilowatt hours of electricity the solar panels are producing at any given moment to ensure all panels are preforming at peak efficiency.

North Bay Solar Energy Leader Sees Very Bright Future

SolarCraft President/CEO Avner DaabulNovato and Sonoma-based SolarCraft, a leader in solar electric and solar pool heating system installation, announced today the appointment of Avner Daabul as the new President/CEO.  Mr. Daabul brings more than 20 years of leadership and experience in the electrical and renewable energy field to his new role having previously served as Director of Operations at SolarCraft.

Beginning July 1, Daabul will replace Bill Stewart who is stepping down from handling day to day activities as SolarCraft has transitioned to a wholly employee owned and operated company.  Stewart will retain the title of Chairman and will still be working on behalf of SolarCraft as well as continuing efforts to promote the solar industry.

School Solar Electric Installation Project Profile

Rising energy costs have profoundly affected nonprofits and schools, which have to adapt to working on tighter budgets without compromising the quality of their important work. By installing a 207 kW solar electric system, Sonoma Academy will save more than $1,280,000 over the next 25 years allowing that money to flow directly back into education.

Sonoma Academy’s solar power system is an example of their intent to create a sustainable future for their students. It will generate enough electricity to power about 50 average homes and avoid production of 6,266 lbs. of carbon dioxide emissions per year — equivalent to removing nearly 5 million miles of driving over the next 25 years and comparable to the air pollution removed by 107 acres of trees.

Designed and engineered by SolarCraft, the project was developed by SolEd Benefit Corp of San Rafael, which was formed with the mission to lower the cost of clean energy for schools and public benefit clients.

“We have wanted to go solar from the founding of the Academy, but we needed to preserve capital for growth of the school,” says Derice Hogel, the Director of Finance & Operations.  “This approach was the winning formula – and it looks as though we will have a nice operating savings as well.”

Rather than buy the equipment or take on debt, Sonoma Academy signed a 25-year Solar Power Purchase Agreement with SolEd Solar Holdings III, LLC to buy the clean energy produced and metered by the solar array. Under present Net Energy Metering rules the school’s meter will be credited at established retail values of energy during the bright summer months and on weekends while it uses little energy, and pays a modest cost (eventually declining) for energy delivered.

SolarCraft Completes Solar Power Installation at Nova Group

Napa Engineering & Construction Firm now Powered by the Sun

Novato and Sonoma based SolarCraft recently completed the installation of a 187 kW solar panel installation at Nova Group in Napa, CA.  The solar panel system will provide over a 90% reduction in their power bills, saving the company $2 million dollars in energy fees over the next 20 years.

“We are pleased to join the ranks of those businesses and home owners who are choosing to get off the grid!” stated Nova Group CFO Walter Birdsall.  “As a company we take pride in our innovative and forward thinking approach to our construction projects and we try to apply that same spirit to everything we do.  Converting our home office and shop to solar is a concrete example of that.”

Designed and installed by SolarCraft, the solar photovoltaic system is ground-mounted and consists of 612 Canadian Solar 305-watt solar panels, providing 292,230 kWh of sustainable solar power every year.  The excess energy is fed back to PG&E, reducing the energy pressures on the local power grid.

Over the life of the system 229 tons of carbon dioxide will be eliminated from Nova Group’s carbon footprint, which is the equivalent of removing 19 million miles of driving over the next 25 years.  That’s also comparable to the air pollution removed by more than 98 acres of trees.

These numbers show there is a very positive impact with solar energy systems.  Plus the system has about a 4 year pay back.

SolarCraft Brings Solar Power to Cloverleaf Ranch

Sun Shines on Celebrated Sonoma County Camp

Novato and Sonoma based SolarCraft recently completed the installation of solar panels at Cloverleaf Ranch in Santa Rosa, CA.  Located on 160 acres of oak tree dotted hills and grazing land in Sonoma County, the camp is now powered by renewable energy, saving the environment from 22 tons of carbon emissions every year.

The 17 kW solar photovoltaic system is ground-mounted on a hillside overlooking the surrounding vineyards at the camp.  Designed and installed by SolarCraft, the solar system consists of 52 SunPower 327-watt, high efficiency solar panels, providing 28,589 kWh of clean, sustainable electricity annually.

Shawna DeGrange was excited about the addition to the ranch and went on to explain, “While we are a very traditional camp, with traditional values, we want the community to know that we are also changing with the times. Our goal is not only to take care of our environment, but instill that appreciation of the outdoors to our youth. My goal is to add lesson planning in the camp program in a fun, educational setting to teach them the value of alternative power sources.”

Cloverleaf Ranch switched to solar power to reduce their carbon footprint and to create a better, more sustainable future for its campers and the community.

Cloverleaf’s solar power system will generate enough electricity comparable to avoiding production of over 44,848 lbs. of carbon dioxide emissions per year, which is the equivalent of removing 1.8 million miles of driving over the next 25 years.  That’s also comparable to the air pollution removed by more than 10 acres of trees.

North Bay Solar Energy Leader Sells to Employees through ESOP

SolarCraft, a 32 year old North Bay solar energy contractor has announced that it has transitioned to a fully Employee Owned Company, (ESOP).

Previous owners, Bill Stewart and Dennis Nuttman, plan to remain active in their current roles as President and Director, respectively, for the foreseeable future as the company transitions to a new management team made up of current employees.

“Over the years we have had offers to be bought out or rolled up by newer solar players looking to expand into this area”, says Bill Stewart, President, “but it never felt right to Dennis and I because of how it would change the nature of our company that we have built over 30 plus years, and the impact on our current long term employees was unknown. The ESOP seemed to fit our philosophy perfectly, in that the company will continue operating as a local North Bay focused solar contractor. It is also important to us that our current and future customers know that there is a transition plan in place and that SolarCraft will continue to operate for many years to come, with all of our valuable employees now being owners of the business”.

An ESOP is a qualified retirement plan that invests in the common stock of the sponsoring company and provides eligible employees with an ownership interest in this company. Sonoma County School Goes Green, Saves Money

Solar Panels at Sonoma AcademySonoma Academy has switched-on a 208 kW solar power project on the north edge of its campus. The electricity produced from this system is projected to save over $1,280,000 for the academy over the next 25 years allowing that money to flow directly back into education.

Sonoma Academy’s solar power system is not only about utility bills savings, but an example of the Academy’s intent to create a better, more sustainable future for its students. It will generate enough electricity to power about 50 average homes and will avoid production of 6,266 lbs. of carbon dioxide emissions per year, which is the equivalent of removing nearly 5 million miles of driving over the next 25 years. That’s also comparable to the air pollution removed by 107 acres of trees.

A Local Team: The solar project was developed by SolEd Benefit Corp of San Rafael and investor MacDonald Eco Developments LLC of Sebastopol, and installed by SolarCraft of Novato.

Sonoma Academy did not have to buy the solar equipment, or take on any debt. It instead signed a 25-year Solar Power Purchase Agreement with SolEd Solar Holdings III, LLC to simply buy the clean energy produced and metered by the solar array. Under present Net Energy Metering rules (confirmed by the CA Public Utility Commission this month) the School’s meter will be credited at established retail values of energy during the bright summer months and on weekends while it uses little energy, and pays a modest cost (eventually declining) for energy delivered.

The solar modules are all-black mono-crystalline silicon PV 275-Watt panels manufactured in the U.S. by Suniva, Inc out of Norcross, GA, with a 25-year warranty. The inverters are HiQ Solar 8kW TrueStringTM smart inverters, made in California by HiQ Solar, Inc. of Santa Clara, CA. The hillside installation and racking on earth screws was accomplished by RBI Solar of Ohio. Overall system engineering, permitting, procurement and turnkey construction was managed by SolarCraft of Novato.

SolEd_webSolEd Benefit Corp was formed with the mission to lower the cost of clean energy for schools and public benefit clients. They are using a Solar Power Purchase Agreement document used by SolEd with a four-school District in Petaluma, and several other agencies in the Northbay.

Key terms of the Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) include:

• No upfront capital cost to Sonoma Academy
• No obligation for the School to operate and maintain the solar facility
• No fixed payments or debt obligations for the School
• No need to reserve for capital replacement or repairs – SolEd does that
• The PPA is simply an agreement to pay for the clean energy delivered to the meter.

The rising cost of energy has profoundly affected our local nonprofits and schools, who have to adapt to working on tighter and tighter budgets without compromising the quality of their important work.

SolarCraft Helps Sundial Broadcasting Corporation Switch to Solar Power

sundial2Novato and Sonoma based SolarCraft announced the completion of a 24.8 kW solar electric system at Sundial Broadcasting Corporation in Sausalito, CA. The broadcasting station sits on Mount Beacon atop the Marin Headlands and is now powered by clean, renewable energy.

The project is expected to provide Sundial with nearly $403,000 in energy savings over the life of the system and meet 99% of the station’s electricity needs.

Designed and installed by SolarCraft, the solar photovoltaic system is ground mounted and engineered to solve difficult challenges presented by the coastal, mountain-top location such as high winds, salt mist corrosion and uneven, rocky terrain. The solar photovoltaic system consists of 80 Canadian Solar 310-watt solar panels, spanning 1,654 square feet. Candian Solar’s high-efficiency solar panels are certified for use in coastal and marine environments, ensuring the durability and performance of the project.

The system will be net-metered, so any solar energy not consumed by Sundial Broadcasting solar for broadcasting, sausalito solar power, Sundial Broadcasting CorporationCorporation will be fed into the local electricity grid. The project is expected to generate 34,977 kilowatt hours of electricity within its first year of operation. The station will recoup the cost of installing the system in less than 6 years and enjoy free power from the sun for many decades to come.

The new solar power system will allow Sundial Broadcasting Corporation to generate enough electricity to power 6 average homes and will avoid production of 1.4 million lbs. of carbon dioxide emissions per year, which is the equivalent of removing 2.2 million miles of driving over the next 25 years. That’s also comparable to the air pollution removed by 12 acres of trees.

North Bay Wine Importer Turns to Solar, Cuts Power Bill

An importer and wholesaler of exceptional foreign wines, Martine’s Wines is now utilizing clean solar power and saving thousands in utility fees every year.

Designed and installed by SolarCraft, the solar photovoltaic system is roof mounted and consists of 66 Canadian Solar 305-watt solar panels, spanning nearly 1,365 square feet. The system’s solar panels convert sunlight directly into electricity and are expected to generate approximately 29,436 kilowatt hours of emissions-free electricity each year, reducing their PG&E bills by 94% and providing clean energy to their warehouse facility.

“My warehouse is specially designed for the storage of wines. I need 24 hours a day refrigeration and therefore a lot of electric power,” said Martine’s Wines founder, Martine Saunier. “Where we are located in Novato, it is very sunny all year round. It was a reasonable decision to install solar panels on the roof with a reputable company such as SolarCraft.”

By installing solar, a cost-effective and sustainable energy solution, Martine’s Wines can expect to eventually save hundreds of thousands of dollars in energy costs over the life of the system, and recoup the cost of installing the system in 7 years.

The new solar power system will allow Martine’s Wines to generate enough electricity to power 9 average homes and will avoid production of almost 577 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, which is the equivalent of removing 1.8 million miles of driving over the next 25 years. That’s also comparable to the air pollution removed by over 9.9 acres of trees.

The new photovoltaic system will offset 99% of their utility grid demand, essentially eliminating their electric bills and saving the school district thousands in utility fees every year.

The solar photovoltaic panels are ground mounted in a visible location at the front of the school, providing students a first-hand opportunity to see how sunlight is converted to electricity. Horicon is one of many schools going solar and serving as stewards of sustainability and cornerstones of green initiatives that benefit their community.

Designed and installed by SolarCraft, the solar system consists of 190 Canadian Solar 310-watt solar panels, spanning over 3,928 square feet and providing 87,235kWh of clean, renewable electricity annually. Solar provides Horicon an effective long-term hedge against future utility rate increases and frees previous energy expenditures to go back towards education.

SolarCraft assisted the school with preparing The California Clean Energy Jobs Act (Proposition 39) application for a $75,000 grant. Under the initiative, roughly up to $550 million annually is available for appropriation by the Legislature for eligible projects to improve energy efficiency and expand clean energy generation in schools.

Horicon’s solar power system will generate enough electricity to power over 14 average homes and will avoid production of almost 25 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, which is the equivalent of removing 1.4 million miles of driving over the next 25 years. Horicon Elementary School is a rural, one school district in the northwest corner of Sonoma County. The district is one of the largest geographically in the state and includes the coastal community of the Sea Ranch and Stewarts Point to the west; Annapolis and east along Skaggs Springs Road. The Horicon Elementary School has 12 students for every full-time equivalent teacher, with the CA state average being 24 students per full-time equivalent teacher.

Novato and Sonoma based SolarCraft announced the completion of a
662 kW solar electric system at Redwood Credit Union (RCU) in Santa Rosa, CA.   The new photovoltaic system will offset about 61 percent of RCU’s utility grid demand and save the company thousands in utility fees every year.

The solar array consists of 2,036 Suniva 320-watt solar panels, installed on building rooftop and spanning over 42,460 square feet. Covering the majority of the rooftop, the solar panels further reduce the building’s heating and cooling load by insulating and protecting the roof.

Designed and installed by SolarCraft, the $1.2 million system will produce up to 945,097 kWh of clean, solar power annually and will provide an effective long-term hedge against future utility rate increases. Installing solar, a cost-effective and sustainable energy solution, is the latest upgrade to the LEED-certified facility, which has served as the Credit Union’s headquarters since 2007.

“The addition of solar to our administrative building is a demonstration of our commitment to sustainable
and earth-friendly practices. The additional benefit of long-term savings on power costs allows us to return
even greater value to our 240,000 Members,” said Brett Martinez, Redwood Credit Union’s President & CEO.

RCU’s solar power system will generate enough electricity to power 148 average homes and will avoid production of almost 272 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, which is the equivalent of removing 15 million miles of driving over the next 25 years. That’s also comparable to the air pollution removed by over 54 acres of trees.

SolarCraft Brings Solar Power to Napa Valley Hospice and Adult Day Services

Napa solar, solar panels napa, non-profit solarNovato and Sonoma based SolarCraft announced the completion of a 106.3 kW solar electric panel system at Napa Valley Hospice and Adult Day Services (NVHADS) in Napa, CA. They are now generating their own power from the sun and saving thousands in utility costs each year. More importantly, with that savings they are able to provide more services to the community.

“Making the change to solar power will have a profound, positive impact on our agency for many years to come,” said NVHADS President and CEO Linda Gibson. “We very much appreciate the quality, expertise, and professionalism that SolarCraft brought to this project, which is helping us become energy efficient and more sustainable, as well as able to focus more of our financial resources on patient care.”

The solar photovoltaic system is mounted on the roof of the facility with high-efficiency SunPower solar electric modules. The system converts sunlight directly into electricity and is expected to generate approximately 158,550 kilowatt hours of emissions-free electricity each year, reducing the facility’s PG&E bills by an estimated 95%. Just as important to the nonprofit is the dramatic reduction in greenhouse gas impacts, with the CO2 equivalent of eliminating over 2.6 million miles of driving over the life of the system.

Getting to this point was no small task, with the solar project team – lead by Director of Development, Joanne Sutro, and Board Chair, Steve Silva – carefully determining the project parameters, selecting a vendor, and negotiating the best financing vehicle always with the goal of providing solar in a way that delivered the most value possible to NVHADS. Additionally, the project had considerable design challenges, due to multiple roof planes, shading, and high electricity bills that required using every bit of feasible roof space available. SolarCraft’s Director of Commercial Projects, Robert Gould, recalls it taking several design iterations to “find the right balance between the best financial return, product quality and reliability, and aesthetics. It was no small task on this project, but we felt honored to be chosen and to help our client go solar and forward their mission at the same time”.

In addition to SunPower modules, SolarCraft engineered the system with SolarEdge inverter-optimizers, which provide all the functionality of micro-inverters at lower cost and with lower risk. The SolarEdge power optimizers ensure each and every module is operating at maximum efficiency, regardless of shading, soiling, and/or the orientation of the other modules.

North Bay Church Makes the Switch to Solar

Designed and built by SolarCraft, the North Bay church’s system will reduce their carbon footprint and offset almost 90% of their PG&E usage.

The solar photovoltaic system is roof mounted on the west facing roof of the Church’s Burlingame Hall and consists of 48 LG 275-watt solar panels. The solar panels convert sunlight directly into electricity and is expected to generate approximately 17,969 kilowatt hours of energy annually, providing up to $4,700 in utility savings every year. Furthermore, Sonoma Clean Power’s favorable rate for solar customers, which give credits for energy exported to the grid, will generate additional savings.

SolarCraft presented to the Church new financing options which are very favorable for non-profits and deliver sound financial returns. Essentially, the financing payments for the solar power are less than paying PG&E each month, with no upfront costs. The church is part of Interfaith Power and Light, a nationwide group of 1,800 churches working on climate change, and the first church in the Sonoma Valley to convert to renewable power.

The system’s solar electric panels will spare the air nearly 6 tons of harmful greenhouse gases annually. Over 30 years, the air pollution saved will be equivalent to eliminating over 325,000 miles of driving or planting 6 acres of trees.

This ground mounted solar electric system spans consists of (335) Sunpower 345 watt high-efficiency solar modules, providing power to the administrative offices, guest facilities and the meditation hall with renewable energy, reducing Spirit Rock utility costs by over 90%.

Through the use of special non-profit friendly financing through SolarCraft, which allows clients to benefit from commercial incentives, they pay less for solar power than they would to PG&E. In financial terms, the system generates positive cash flow immediately. Furthermore, Spirit Rock has the option to pay off the system sooner (after year 5) to own it outright. Doing so will reduce financing costs and enable them to save even more money.

“Here comes the sun,” said Spirit Rock Teacher and cofounder James Baraz when he received news of the powering up of the solar array. “We are an organization that seeks to ‘walk our talk’ and reduce our carbon impact so we will ‘do no harm’ for the planet, all living beings and future generations.”

The system’s solar electric panels are expected to generate approximately 190,700 kilowatt hours of clean energy annually. The new solar energy system allows Spirit Rock to generate enough electricity each day to power over 27 average homes. The amount of carbon offset by the PV array is equivalent to removing

50 tons of harmful greenhouse gases annually. Over the next 30 years, the air pollution saved will be equivalent to eliminating almost 3 million miles of driving or planting 10 acres of trees.

With 15 years of experience in the construction industry, as an Accounting Manager and Controller, organizational development, job costing and profitability tracking and a myriad of process development and management skills, Cindy Gurtner is well prepared to take on the challenge.

Cindy Gurtner comes to SolarCraft after three years at George Family Enterprises, Northern California, Inc. an acoustical and specialty ceilings contractor in the North Bay and Sonoma County. During her time there, the average profitability of projects increased and rarely went over budget. Prior to joining GFENC, Cindy was at BEK, CMG, Inc, performing extensive audits for a $500 million dollar new construction project. Cindy also spent seven years at Page Construction, Inc, a general contractor performing Public Works projects.

Gurtner also spent 5 years with BayGroup International, Inc., which involved multiple entities in multiple countries using multiple currencies. Shomrei Torah was founded in 1974 by a group of eleven Sonoma County families. The name they chose for their new congregation translates as “Keepers of Torah” in honor of our Holocaust Torah, which was rescued from Strakonitz, Czechoslovakia, and is on permanent loan from a foundation in Westminster, England. Marin County’s Emergency Services Building Now Powered by the Sun

Marin County Emergency Facility Goes SolarNovato and Sonoma based SolarCraft announced the completion of a 518.5 kW solar power system at Marin County’s New Emergency Operations Facility in San Rafael, CA. Designed and built by SolarCraft, the County’s new solar panel system will reduce their carbon footprint while saving millions in utility costs in the years to come.

The solar photovoltaic system is roof-mounted, spanning nearly 36,000 square feet. The system is built with 1,700 ReneSola 305-watt solar panels, powering the new facility with clean, renewable energy, while reducing the load on the local utility grid.

The building, known by many as part of the Marin Commons, had its public debut on May 10. It will allow emergency response services to remain operational in the event of a major earthquake. “I am looking forward to celebrating the opening of our state of the art seismic-certified public safety building,” Supervisor Susan Adams said, saying she was “particularly happy” with the building’s solar system.

In keeping with the County of Marin Board of Supervisor’s goal of sustainability, the Marin Emergency Operations Facility Project is on track for Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The 518.5 kW solar array fulfills the Countywide General Plan goal of 1 Megawatt of PV panels on county facilities ahead of the 2015 self-imposed deadline.

The system’s solar electric panels are expected to generate approximately 764,400 kilowatt hours of energy annually, allowing the County to generate enough electricity each day to power 119 average homes. It will spare the air nearly 220 tons of harmful greenhouse gases annually. Over the next 30 years, the air pollution saved will be equivalent to eliminating almost 12.6 million miles of driving.

About Marin Emergency Operations Facility
The county purchased the building at 1600 Los Gamos Road, San Rafael, for $28 million in 2011 and spent about $50 million for seismic, equipment and technological upgrades as well as interior renovations. After Sheriff-Coroner personnel get settled at the Emergency Operations Facility, the County plans to bring in employees from other departments over the next several years. Extra spaces will be rented to generate funds.

Hess Collection Winery in Napa Gets Solar Panels Installed by SolarCraft

Energy Independent Napa Valley Winery Enjoys Flat Energy Costs

Designed and built by SolarCraft, the new system will reduce Hess’s utility costs by thousands every year, while reducing the load on the local utility grid.

The solar photovoltaic system is roof-mounted, spanning 44,555 square feet. The system consists of 2,200 Hanwha Solar 295-watt solar panels, powering their offices and production facilities with clean, renewable energy.

Utilizing solar power is part of Hess Collection Winery’s commitment to environmentally conscious and sustainable business practices. By going solar, they will reduce their carbon footprint while saving millions in utility costs in the years to come.

The system’s solar electric panels are expected to generate approximately 945,450 kilowatt hours of energy annually, providing 100% of the winery’s annual energy consumption. The new solar energy system enables Hess to generate enough electricity each day to power 148 average homes. It will spare the air nearly 272 tons of harmful greenhouse gases annually. Over the next 30 years, the air pollution saved will be equivalent to eliminating almost 16 million miles of driving.

Solar Panels Now Power Napa Valley Country Club

Premier Napa Valley Golf Course Now Powered by Solar

Solar power napa, solar napa, napa valley solar, Napa GolfNovato and Sonoma based SolarCraft announced the completion of a 251 kW solar power system at Napa Valley Country Club in Napa, CA. The picturesque, private golf course is now powered by renewable, green energy.

The solar electric system is ground mounted on a hillside above the golf course. It consists of 870 high-efficiency solar panels spanning a total of 17,610 square feet. The system’s solar electric panels are expected to generate approximately 363,000 kilowatt hours of energy annually. Excess power generated during the day is banked by PG&E for credit towards future use.

The new solar power system allows Napa Valley Country Club to generate enough electricity each day to power over 57 average homes. It will spare the air nearly 105 tons of harmful greenhouse gases annually. Over the next 30 years, the air pollution saved will be equivalent to eliminating more than 6 million miles of driving.

Solar panels Labcon PetalumaNovato and Sonoma based SolarCraft announced the completion of a 73.2 kW solar electric expansion at Labcon in Petaluma, CA, the industry leader in sustainable plastic labware. The 73.2 kW addition combined with the existing 800 kW system brings Labcon’s annual solar production to 1.3 million Kilowatt hours.

The solar electric system addition is roof-mounted, spanning 3,935 square feet. The system addition consists of 224 SunPower 327-watt high efficiency solar panels, powering their offices and production facilities.

Labcon recently decided to expand the facility’s solar productivity to further reduce their carbon footprint and increase their utility savings. Non-profit Solar Electric Installation Project Profile

 An innovative residential community in Sonoma, CA geared specifically for adults with autism, Sweetwater Spectrum was developed with environmental stewardship in mind. To help facilitate and promote energy efficiency, a 51 kW solarSonoma solar power Sweetwater Spectrum electric and solar pool heating system was installed by SolarCraft to provide the community with clean, sustainable energy.

 SolarCraft offers unique financing options for non-profits, to eliminate high upfront costs. The finance payments are typically less than paying PG&E, so the projects save money immediately.

The solar electric system is roof-mounted on four residential buildings and the community center. It consists of high-efficiency solar panels spanning a total of 3,600 square feet. A separate solar heating system greatly reduces the cost of heating the pool.

Designed to LEED Gold standards, in addition to solar power the homes and community structures at Sweetwater Spectrum were constructed using durable, low-VOC building materials and finishes, solar water heating and radiant cooling/heating systems. In fact, the community is a pilot project for the PG&E Net Zero Energy Pilot Program.

The system’s solar electric panels are expected to generate approximately 73,000 kilowatt hours of energy annually.
