Avner Daabul, President/Chief Executive Officer
Avner Daabul has been in the solar industry since 2005 and brings with him more than 20 years of leadership and experience in the electrical and renewable energy field. A C-10 (electrical) and C46 (solar) licensed contractor, Avner started his electrical career in the Israeli Air Force, then moved on to work with commercial and private jets in one of the world’s leading aerospace companies. He brings his passion for renewable energy to work with integrity and a strong commitment to efficiency and success. Avner lives in San Rafael with his wife Dawn, three kids and their dog Louie.
Ted Walsh, Vice President of Sales & Marketing
Mr. Walsh has been a leader in the solar industry leader for more than 10 years, and has lead several local solar companies to national prominence while developing more than 100 commercial projects and several hundred residential solar projects within his community. Most recently Ted was President of a leading national commercial solar provider based in Petaluma, leading their growth and eventual acquisition by the nation’s largest utility. Ted combines a high level of integrity, customer perspective and personnel management experience with expertise in local energy markets, project finance, renewable energy technology and the unique culture and diversity of the North Bay community. Ted holds degrees in Economics, Managerial Accounting, and Chemistry from the University of Rochester and the University of South Florida, respectively. A lifelong athlete, he competed in the decathlon in college and played professional basketball in Europe. He coaches youth sports locally, volunteers for local community and sustainability programs, and lives in Western Marin County with his wife and two young children. Walking the walk, Ted drives a hybrid, lives in as solar powered eco-friendly house and his kids’ middle names are sunshine and wind.
Chet Stromberg, Director of Residential Sales
Chet brings over 25 years of direct renewable energy project development including project management, engineering services, and sales & marketing experience. Chet has personally sold, engineered and managed over 500 residential and commercial solar projects. After graduating with Renewable Energy Engineering, Chet volunteered his service to the US Peace Corps and served in the Cook Islands, Polynesia. Chet was successful as Sales Manager for Silicon Valley with Real Goods and then Director of Business Development with Sun First Solar. Chet is a 3rd generation Marin resident, living in Mill Valley with his three children.
Robert Gould, Director of Commercial Sales
Robert Gould has been in the solar industry since 2005, developing, designing and supervising the installation of commercial and residential solar systems. He now is focused exclusively on developing and managing SolarCraft’s commercial solar efforts. He has over 20 years working in sales, marketing, product development and organization development in green and socially-responsible businesses. He was a President of GreenLight Solar and Director at Charles Schwab, and holds an M.A. in Sustainable Management. Robert lives in Mill Valley with his wife and son.
Brian Costa, Director of Operations
Brian has been in the solar industry since 2004 when he started as an installer. He completed his education in 2005 with a degree in Energy Management and Design from Sonoma State University. Brian has experience in all aspects of the solar photovoltaic industry holding positions as drafter/designer, construction manager for a PPA/system owner and both residential and commercial project manager. He recieved his NABCEP Certification in 2009. Since then, Brian has focused his efforts solely on commercial construction project management, completing challenging projects for various industry sectors including: water districts, cities improvement projects, educational facilities, public municipalities, agriculture, manufacturing, cold storage/ distribution as well as multiple project sites located across state lines (AZ & MO). Brian lives in Novato with his young family which he enjoys spending his free time with. His hobbies include drumming, hiking, snowboarding and pyrotechnics.
Kyle Williams, Commercial Project Manager
Kyle Williams entered the Solar industry in 2010 after working as a field supervisor for Comcast for five years and hurricane flood relief in New Orleans prior to that. Kyle has been working his way up from Installation Technician to his current position as Commercial Project Manager. He has many successful solar installations under his belt and has maintained understanding and adaptability in the ever growing and changing solar industry. He and his partner reside in Cotati where he is the father of two beautiful daughters and a figure to a third.
Pat Knoff, Controller
Pat Knoff Served in the Marine Corps from 1985 – 1993. He is a Veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He continued from there to follow his passion for computers as a Software Developer/Programmer for entertainment and educational multimedia projects with Ion, Inc. After 3 years with Ion, Pat moved on to work for 10 years as an Independent Contractor on multimedia products. During his time with Ion and as a Contractor, Pat worked for Companies/Artists such as Seagate, Primus, Todd Rundgren, Macromedia, Apple, and Microsoft. In 1999 Pat moved to Southern California and took a job with the Marine Corps as a Civilian Contractor, managing their Combat Issue Facility. After successfully deploying Marines to combat overseas, he traveled to various Marine Bases around the world, setting up operations and database systems to manage inventory. Pat moved back up to Marin in 2009 and was hired at SolarCraft as the Service Dispatcher in 2010. Pat developed SQL data mining skills during his tenure in the Service Department, providing reports for many departments at SolarCraft. These skills allowed him to take advantage of an opportunity to transition into Accounting as the Controller for SolarCraft.
Jason Williamson – Service Manager
Jason came to SolarCraft after serving in the US Army Signal Corps in 1997. He worked his way up the ranks to Thermal Crew Foreman. In 2001 he became our first Photovoltaic Crew Lead/Foreman. Over the following 8 years he moved up to be the PV Residential Project Manager/Service Manager . In 2009 Jason left to pursue a degree in Kinesiology. With the growth of the solar industry in the last 10 years, Jason was persuaded to come back to SolarCraft as a Service Tech specializing in both PV and Thermal systems-a rare thing today. After a year in the field Jason was promoted to manage our ever growing Service Department. A life-long bay area resident, he lives in Sonoma with his beautiful wife Adrianne, they have one son attending Evergreen College in Washington State.
Marcus Rome, Operations Manager — Thermal Division
Marcus Rome has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. Joining SolarCraft in 1996 as a crew chief and service technician, Marcus has been factory trained by many of the leading companies in the industry including Fafco, Heliodyne, and Pentair. Having worked as the Thermal Service and Operations Manager since 2010, Marcus is committed to the high standard of customer service and quality installation practices put into place almost three decades ago by founders Bill Stewart and Dennis Nuttman. Marcus is a Marin County native, raised in Novato where he still lives with his wife and two children.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Bill Stewart, Chairman/Co-Founder
Bill Stewart joined the solar industry in 1978, co-founded SolarCraft in 1984 and has since helped to build one of the most recognized names in the industry. Bill holds B (General Building), C10 (electrical) and C46 (solar) contractor’s licenses and has served as a Subject Matter Expert for the California State Licensing Board for the development and update of the C46 Solar License requirements for over ten years. He is one of a few individuals who has been certified both in Photovoltaic and Thermal technologies, as well as Technical Sales and Design, by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). Bill formerly served on the Board of Directors of the California Solar Energy Industries Association (CALSEIA), and is a former founding Board Member of the Marin Economic Forum and is also a member of the North Bay Leadership Council. Bill and his wife Deborah are longtime Sonoma residents where they also own and operate SoloQuest Learning Center, an accredited private school where Middle and High School students learn through individualized and small group instruction.
Dennis Nuttman, Director/Co-Founder
Dennis Nuttman has over 30 years experience in the solar industry and co-founded SolarCraft in 1984. Dennis graduated from USF in 1975 with a BA. He has sold, designed, installed, or managed the installation of over 4,000 systems in Marin and Sonoma. Dennis is a life-long resident of Marin County, he and his wife have lived in Novato since 1977.
Jeff Asch, Director
Jeff Asch is an experienced corporate leader with a proven track record of successfully growing small businesses, and has provided business guidance to SolarCraft for many years. As a Board Member and consultant, Mr. Asch led the ESOP transaction enabling the founders of SolarCraft to transition the company to 100% employee ownership. Previous to the appointment to the Board of Directors, Mr. Asch was interim Chief Financial Officer at SolarCraft for one year in 2012. Mr. Asch currently holds the position of Chief Operating Officer at DC Electric Group, a union specialty electrical contractor. Earlier in his career, Mr. Asch served as Vice President of Noresco, an Architectural Energy Corporation from 1994-2002; Vice President/CFO of Republic ITS, a Siemens Company from 2002-2011; and more recently as Chief Executive Officer of Cartelligent, a leading alternative car buying service company from 2013-2015.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government from Wesleyan University in Hartford, Connecticut and a Certificate in Energy Management and Design from Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, CA.
