Vida Nueva Now Powered by Solar Energy

Novato-based SolarCraft announced the completion of a solar electric system at the newly completed Vida Nueva Supportive Housing Development in Rohnert Park, CA. The development earned a GreenPoint Rated certification by Build It Green, and the addition of solar panels will reduce the energy costs for all occupants.

The roof mounted solar energy system installed by SolarCraft utilizes Sharp 198 watt solar panels, and will help power the facility with free energy from the sun.

The solar energy project is part of a County-wide plan for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 25 percent below 1990 levels by 2015. All nine Sonoma cities and the County established this goal in 2005. The new solar energy system will save the City of Rohnert Park over 3 tons of harmful greenhouse gas emissions every year.
