SolarCraft’s Solar PV Service Tech will be Full-Time, based in our Novato, CA office and working primarily through Marin, Sonoma, Napa & East Bay Counties. The position involves the service and maintenance of solar electric (PV) and energy storage systems, primarily commercial systems – as well as performing Quality Assurance/Quality Control during design/build of new projects. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ experience installing and/or servicing solar PV systems, or equivalent experience in electric, roofing or energy construction fields. SolarCraft Service Technicians report to the VP of Operations and Service Manager, who performs system monitoring, PM role and client communications manager.

The primary responsibilities of the Solar Electric (PV) Service Technician are:

  • Work safely at all times, and ensure the safety of yourself, your team, clients, partners and the sites you are on.
  • As directed by leadership, to perform on-site service, troubleshooting, and repair of solar electric (PV) projects for businesses. This is a field construction role that requires a positive attitude, hard work ethic, and knowledge and experience with solar electric systems, general construction and electrical systems.
  • work collaboratively Foreman/Superintendents, Project Managers and your team to ensure safety, quality, client satisfaction and project schedules and budgets are achieved.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Have relevant previous hands on experience in solar installation or construction, troubleshooting and service/repair of systems.
  • Must be reliable, and demonstrate highly-ethical behavior and good judgment at all times.
  • Must be able to routinely lift 75 lbs., climb ladders, work in enclosed spaces, with technical build aptitude and familiarity with construction build sites
  • Knowledge and ability to use construction hand tools, measuring devices, and power drills, portable band saws, electrical and measuring devices, etc.
  • Ability to work safely and confidently on roofs with ladder access (no fear of heights, familiar with safety equipment, and healthy respect for safety concerns is required).
  • The ability to read and understand project drawings, plan-sets, single-line drawings, and blueprints.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work site and at all times and represent the company well.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well in a fast-paced work environment both independently and as part of a team (3-5 people)
  • Install, evaluate, and repair solar PV system components including but not limited to installing water-positive roof flashings, solar racking, solar modules, conduit and wire, electrical switches and monitoring systems. As well as work on ground mount system, including concrete, excavation.
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Certifications and/or clean license to drive commercial trucks is required.
  • NABCEP certification or accredited PV installer certification a plus.
  • Experience tor certification to use heavy equipment a plus

Requirements:

  • Analyzing performance of existing systems
  • Installing and servicing monitoring equipment
  • Diagnosing and correcting service issues
  • System upgrade scheduling, procurement, warranty returns and credits
  • Quality control
  • Strong organizational, technical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of both NEC and UBC
  • Knowledge and experience installing grid tied solar electric systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Project

Additional Experience a Plus:

  • Experience and certification from major solar electric equipment manufacturers
  • Experience in installation of solar electric monitoring systems
  • Experience in technical service and repair of complex products or systems
  • NABCEP Certification
  • California Electrician Certification
  • CAD experience (AutoCAD and/or Sketch-up)

We are seeking a Solar Electric Systems Installer for residential and commercial systems. Duties include creating a safe environment for yourself, colleagues, and our customers and:

  • Installation of Residential and Small Commercial solar electric systems.
  • Includes construction according to plans, specifications, manufacturer’s requirements, and NEC  of:  Roof and ground mounting structures, Mounting and wiring solar modules
  • Installation of Conduit, wire and disconnects
  • Installation of Inverters and connection to utility grid.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years as a PV installer
  • California Electrician Certification
  • NABCEP certification a big PLUS
  • Disciplined, self motivated work style
  • Knowledge of the NEC Code and AC and DC electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Universal Building Codes and building materials and techniques (ie lumber, roofing materials, etc.)

The Solar Consultant responsibilities include:

  • Educate and inspire potential customers on the many benefits of solar and alternative energy technologies.
  • While maintaining the highest level of integrity and ethical sales practices, Sales Consultants must differentiate themselves and SolarCraft in a competitive marketplace.
  • Conduct energy rate and usage analysis, PV production and savings modelling, create preliminary designs and proposals and present solutions in a compelling manner via in-home visits, phone and email.
  • Pursue leads (company provided and self-generated) for residential solar electric, solar thermal, and storage/battery systems
  • Network, attend events, generate referrals and build references to support your ongoing business
  • Using satellite imaging programs and industry-leading PV energy programs, and onsite home survey and inspections, Solar Sales consultants must evaluate and perform site feasibility studies.
  • Consistently utilize CRM (Salesforce) and proficiently log all activities throughout the entire sales process
  • Prepare weekly feedback and forecast reports

Desired Qualification:

  • A positive attitude
  • A sincere belief in the power of renewable energy to transform our society and deliver value to home and business owners
  • Proven sales professional with strong technical and interpersonal skills
  • Experience selling, designing and/or installing solar electric and/or solar thermal systems (equivalent experience in battery/storage, fuel cell, alternative energy, or advanced electrical products considered).
  • Strong technical abilities required: high reliance on excel, math, science, design & construction methodology and geospatial software programs, financial modelling.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of current utilities, energy regulations and policies, incentives and rate structures
  • Knowledge of solar technologies (i.e. PV, inverters, DAS, racking, storage) and other residential energy products
  • General knowledge of electrical and construction methods and codes
  • Computer Skills-MS Office, CAD, Salesforce/CRM
