Coast Guard Installs Large Solar Pool Heating System

SolarCraft announced today that it has completed installation of a solar pool heating system at the United States Coast Guard Training Center in Petaluma, CA. The new solar powered water heating system helps maintain an average water temperature of 80 degrees for the 200,000 gallon training pool. It will save the Coast Guard thousands of dollars and eliminate hundreds of tons of harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

The solar water heating system consists of 72 FAFCO "Revolution" high efficiency solar panels. The 3,456 square feet of solar collectors are mounted on a graded, 3 step terraced valley and connected to the existing pool filtration and heating system.
