Sebastopol solar & battery FAQ
Can you install ground-mount solar on an orchard or rural Sebastopol lot?
Yes, it's often the best option. On orchards and larger parcels, a ground-mount array can be placed where the land gets the best sun and sized for the home and outbuildings. We design for the whole property.
Do you install commercial solar for west-county wineries?
Yes. We've built Russian River Valley winery systems, including the 248 kW system at Kistler Vineyards, sized to each property's load and designed to accommodate operations like harvest.
Can you design an off-grid or energy-independent system for a remote west-county home?
Often, yes. For remote properties toward Occidental and the coastal hills, we size enough solar and storage to lean less on the grid, and in some cases run independently. We'll assess your site and usage first.
Do I need a battery with my solar?
For most new systems, yes. Under NEM 3.0, exported daytime solar earns far less than grid power at night, so a battery lets you store your own energy for the evening, and it's designed to keep essential circuits running during an outage.
Will a battery keep my home powered in an outage?
A home battery is designed to keep your essential circuits (or even the rest of the home) running during a power outage. Runtime depends on your battery size and which circuits you back up, both of which we size with you.
How does the Prepaid PPA work, and is there any local financing available?
With the Prepaid PPA, you pay one discounted upfront price, with no monthly solar payments, no escalators, and no buyout, and you own the system after six years, 20-30% less. Sonoma County also offers SCEIP financing for renewable improvements, which we can walk you through.
