Sonoma solar & battery FAQ
How much does solar cost for a home in Sonoma?
It depends on your roof, your usage, and whether you add a battery, so we price each system to your home rather than quoting a flat number. With the Prepaid PPA, many homeowners pay one discounted upfront price, 20-30% less, and own the system after six years. We'll put real numbers in a written proposal.
Do you install commercial solar for Sonoma wineries and businesses?
Yes. We've built systems for Sonoma Valley wineries and facilities, including Anaba Wines in Carneros and the Schell-Vista Fire District, sized to each property's load and built to work around operations like harvest.
Do you do home solar in Sonoma, not just wineries?
Absolutely. We install residential solar and battery throughout the Sonoma Valley, from downtown homes to the Springs and the valley hillsides, designed to each roof and how the home uses power.
Do I need a battery with my solar?
For most new systems, yes. Under NEM 3.0, exported daytime solar earns far less than grid power at night, so a battery (/battery-storage-residential) lets you store your own energy for the evening, and it's designed to keep essential circuits running during an outage.
Will a battery keep my home powered in an outage?
A home battery is designed to keep your essential circuits (or more of the home) running during a power outage. Runtime depends on your battery size and which circuits you back up, both of which we size with you.
How does the Prepaid PPA work, and is there any local financing available?
With the Prepaid PPA, you pay one discounted upfront price, with no monthly solar payments, no escalators, and no buyout, and you own the system after six years, 20-30% less. Sonoma County also offers SCEIP financing for renewable improvements, which we can walk you through.
