San Rafael solar & battery FAQ
Is my San Rafael roof a good fit for solar?
Usually we can make it work. We confirm your roof's orientation, shade, and condition during design and size the system to what your roof actually produces, so the estimate reflects your home rather than an average. Heavily shaded roofs may do better with a ground-mounted system, which we'll tell you about.
Do you install across Terra Linda, Peacock Gap, the Canal, and the rest of San Rafael?
Yes, we install throughout San Rafael, from Terra Linda and Marinwood to Peacock Gap, Gerstle Park, and East San Rafael. We design each system to the specific roof and how the home uses power.
Who handles the City of San Rafael permit and PG&E paperwork?
Do I need a battery with my solar?
For most new systems, yes. Under NEM 3.0, exported daytime solar earns far less than grid power at night, so a battery lets you store your own energy for the evening, and it's designed to keep essential circuits running during an outage.
Will a battery keep my home powered in an outage?
A home battery is designed to keep your essential circuits (or more of the home) running during a power outage. Runtime depends on your battery size and which circuits you back up, both of which we size with you.
How does the Prepaid PPA work?
You pay one discounted upfront price, with no monthly solar payments, no escalators, and no buyout, and you own the system after six years. A commercial financing partner captures the tax incentives and passes the savings to you, up to 30%. (Details → Solar & Battery Incentives still available in 2026)
Will solar and battery add value to my home?
Owned solar generally adds resale value in California and typically does so without increasing your property tax assessment.
